Accessibility
Nemo Places - Last updated April 2026
Our commitment: Nemo Places is designed to be usable by everyone. We test with VoiceOver and Voice Control, and we continue to expand accessibility support in every release.
Currently Supported
- VoiceOver - every button, marker, cluster, and category has a descriptive label. Map annotations announce the place name and category ("Coffee: Blue Bottle") or the cluster summary ("3 coffee places"). Tappable elements are marked as buttons. Section headers use proper traits for navigation. Dismiss actions are available on cards and banners without needing to swipe.
- Voice Control - all interactive elements are voice-addressable. Say "Show names" to see labels, then "Tap Filters" or "Tap Save" to activate.
- Differentiate Without Color - hidden category filters show an eye-slash icon so state is visible without relying on color. The location button uses different icon shapes for each authorization state.
- Dynamic Type - text labels use semantic styles and scale with the system text size setting. Emoji sizes on map markers remain fixed to prevent layout overlap.
- Reduce Motion - all animations respect the system Reduce Motion setting. Slides and bounces collapse to simple fades, so nothing moves unexpectedly.
- Reduce Transparency - blurred material backgrounds become solid surfaces with stronger borders when the system setting is on, improving readability.
- Haptic feedback - subtle confirmation when saving, deleting, or dropping a pin.
In Progress
We're actively working on these for an upcoming release:
- Increased Contrast - stronger strokes and higher-contrast state indicators when the system Increase Contrast setting is on.
